About tags That's funny because I was exactly thinking about that the other day and prepared to email you about it. It came to my mind something that could do the trick but I don't know how it could be implemented. I don't say it's a working solution (as any of the other ones below) but maybe... Make possible to assign an episode to a tag (tagging a tag?) and so when you want to add a tag, the list displays only the episodes names with a second list displayed on mouse hover, like that: global tags > all global tags episode 1 > all the tags of episode 1 episode 2 > all the tags of episode 1 etc... In fact I've come to a pretty much similar solution by adding a prefix to everything: EPISODETITLE episode specific tag ⚡ global tag 🍒 tag for recurrent things, bonuses/easter eggs (global too) 💬 tag for themes 🏹 this one is for ARCs because an "arc" is a bow in French ;) I have also a tag in pure yellow to mark beats that need work as there is no system for tracking status. About characters For characters I could need to do that but for now I've just put primary or so characters, not every one of them but maybe you could sort them like that as well, by episodes and the rest in a global list. recurring characters > characters episode 1 > characters episode 2 > characters You could even add a sublevel to distinguish primary/secondary characters. About managing episodes You could also make possible to fold/unfold a given episode with all its beats in the whiteboard? It could be represented with a "-" and "+" sign next to its name. Maybe even a way to move an episode entirely (when folded)? About managing notes Indicate the presence of a note on a beat with something (like a little dot/square in the corner). Maybe only in the whiteboard. But there's a risk it could put too much info on the screen. Well, that was just some ideas that kept popping in my head while testing my workflow. About character detection words, I tested it a bit and it works well but I don't know yet if I want characters to be added even if people just talk about them. I may just want to know who is physically present in a given scene. Or I don't use it well I don't know. It's maybe easier for a screenplay. And yes sometimes we create too much characters, that's why you put the merge option there 😅 If you imagined that world, how annoying would it be when you need to get a tag or a character that isn't used in the currently shown episodes? That's a tough question. I don't know, it depends on your story I guess. Generally though, in a series, you always need to refer to previous/next threads so maybe just having subfolders could do the trick? But then, I guess if you have 60 episodes it's again 60 folders that need to be put into their own "season" folders to clean up some screen space. Or maybe when filtered by episodes, keep global tags always + filtered episodes tags? Or maybe split tags into their specific usage? You could, instead of adding a tag, add an ARC, a theme, or a simple tag. Or... maybe just try to track only the important things. A bit like you said, this is also up to the writer to sort things out in his/her head. Sometimes we can get too carried away by our own stuff.
