    Sync Crash

    in Shot Designer

Using Shot Designer on Mac Book Pro 2021. Syncing causes the app to crash. I emptied all the files and folders and tried to sync. The app still crashes. Really need these files on my iPad with me on set this coming Tuesday morning! Hoping someone can help.

    Thank you!

    **Update:

I did this and sync is working again. Please move the files you want to keep out of the Shot Designer folder just in case the sync deletes something you need!

Then please sign out of the app and do the following:

Go to Finder -> Go menu -> Go To Folder -> ~/Library/Application Support/

Delete us.hollywoodcamerawork.shotdesigner, and restart the app.

    Hi,

This is the correct solution (from https://www.forum.hollywoodcamerawork.com/forum/shot-designer/saving-issues-on-desktop)

The problem has proven elusive, but we basically lose write access to our own folders. It's not something we can do, the framework we use gives no access to file permissions. This means that it's something that the OS is doing, or an anti virus. Our thinking is that since the app is written in the AIR framework, something we're doing looks like something a virus written in the framework was doing, and we get flagged. It's rare, and random.

The workaround is to moves the files out, create a new folder, and move them back in. It would be even better to understand why this happens, but years into it, it's still opaque. Either that, or it's something really stupid that keeps flying under the radar.
