    Sharing a whole Folder

    in Shot Designer

    Hi Per !

I can't figure out how to share a whole folder containing subfolders.

I have this path : MyScenes/MyProject/Day 01 and so on. I Would like to share the "My Project Folder" and I can't. I only see the Day01, Day02 etc. folders, meaning I have to share a lot of folders instead of one containing all of them. Any idea ? Thanx Per !

Indeed, it seems we designed the algorithm to remove some folder levels. I don't remember or agree with the reasoning. It would also be really easy to change. I do need to find out if this is done in the app or on the server.

The one caveat is that anything related to sync needs to go through proper validation and alpha/beta periods. It's a hard rule to never do fast releases in this area, because a mistake can have catastrophic consequences for the entire user base. So for now, I'd like you to do it the manual way. But yes, this is in principle easy to do.

It would be helpful. By now, it makes sharing rather tricky... I noticed that the Templates Folder can be shared in it's entirety.

My Scenes can also be shared in its entirety. But that doesn't actually seem desirable, unless you're working on a single project with all your collaborators.

I think that the right change is that we simply don't filter the folders at all, leaving you free to share from any level you want.

I Understand. Actually, that's what I do : working on a single project with one team. The ability to filter the way we want would be helpful in my opinion.

    Hi Per

Along the same lines, it would also be useful to be able to export a single layer as a jpeg - currently you can export all the layers as separate pdfs - which doesn’t necessarily then import into script apps. (Work around is screengrabs).

    Many thanks

    Peter

So I shared the entire folder with myself and I opened it on the computer app but I can’t figure out how to open it so that I can print them off I don’t want to have to print 70 scenes one by one I know there must be a way

There's no purpose in sharing folders with yourself, because you already have access to all your own folders. Simply sign in on every device you work on, and all your work will be everywhere.

Was it you who left a message? Just FYI, it's very difficult for us to get timezones and productions and family to line up to be able to call back. Electronic communication is much faster, because timezones aren't a factor.

I need more information. What does "signing in" mean? Signing in to the app? Where was your work previously? If you just purchased this and never synced, I'm not clear which projects you're referring to if this is a brand new installation.

And who are you trying to share with? An external person? Are you just trying to get your own files on your own devices? That doesn't involve sharing, that's just sync, and all you have to do is sign in to each device and enable Auto Sync in the Share/Sync menu.

So I'm not 100% clear what the issue is.
