Hi,
I know I have a pro account in some way on my previous MacBook Pro, as I used that laptop with shot designer to build loads of scenes in the past, but I'm trying to sign in on a new machine with any of my email accounts and none of my usual login combinations work, nor do any of my email addresses get recognised on the lost password screen. I've never had any other email address, so can't figure this out.
Is it possible I purchased a pro version of the app on my previous machine without ever associating it with an email address or something? Have also checked on my phone app, but that seems to be the free version and using the "restore" feature if I bought it through the apple store just gives me a spin wheel that goes on forever.
Couldn't find anything in the desktop app on previous machine that showed me an account details / email address etc, but still have access to that machine if there's something I've missed!
We do have any insight into your Apple account, so the way to find out is to simply install the app on a device under the same Apple account, use a Pro feature, and select I Already Own It -> Restore. If that works, that's where you purchased it. Then create an HCW account and sign into the mobile app, and we hear about the purchase for the first time.
Sorry for such a delayed response - but yes, I also thought I would have bought from the apple store on my phone. If that makes it in any way recoverable, the apple account used I think should have been registered to this same email I'm now using on this forum?
That's probably from before the new activation system. Do you have any info on where you purchased it? The process for getting a working license back is very different depending on whether you bought on our website or on mobile.
And you most likely bought on mobile, because we strongly recommended it prior to the new activation system.
With the new system, it's far better for everyone when you purchase on the website, because all the accounting linking is already done. On mobile, it's a bit of a circus to get your mobile purchase transferred. Neither Apple or Google want this to be easy, they'd prefer the outside world didn't exist.
It may have been from many years ago, I have files on this laptop pro version that date back to 2015-2016, if that might be early enough for it to be that?
I did also try password reset with all of my email accounts, but didn't receive a reset email to any of them. checked junk etc. too incase it was something like that.
All accounts have an email address, so if you were activated before, unless it was a zombie activation from many many years ago when we had a different activation system, you probably have an account.
What does the error says? Username/password invalid? We don't reveal which one for security reasons, but does a password reset work for you? If you receive an email, there's an account with that email.
