Hello and happy new year!
I renew my license for another year, but I'm concern of not seeing many updates lately?
What is happening next?
This is a FAN-TAS-TIC software with not a lot of recognition.
I really hope we are not losing you guys and that Causality, it's still in active development.
I've been looking for a software like this one forever, and there is nothing like it out there.
Best
We're all on our last task.
Hello Per !
Is there any news about version 3 in beta ? We'd love to help you guys !
I have used all the other writing platforms, this is ALREADY the Leading Writing Tool. I cannot wait until Version 3.0 drops - put me in on the Alpha Testing Per !!!!
Thank you!
That's an awesome strategy. Love it. You will get to the point, where it becomes one of the leading writing tools, that´s for sure.
This is true, we don't charge update fees. We feel that it's a counter-productive business model that forces features to held back by months or years in order to make updates big enough to charge for, and it forces a significant part of the user base to always be running an old version, forcing us to keep patching old versions, and having fewer people using the latest, sexiest features, which is bad advertising.
By not charging for updates, we can reasonably expect people to always run the latest version. And especially for sync/collaboration, it would be devastating if multiple copies ran very different versions, because the data models wouldn't be compatible.
We'll also never charge platform fees. One purchase is access to the app on all platforms. It has an obvious user-benefit, but it's also a lot easier for us to have a single platform-agnostic app.
Sync/collaboration with a certain amount of media storage will also be included with both permanent licenses and subscriptions, but larger team sizes and more media storage will cost extra. This is especially because once storyboards/previz are integrated into Causality, it's easy to run up many gigabytes.
Hope this helps!
If you have paid. It's forever update free. That was in the purchase contract.
I pruchased causality a while ago. I hope I don´t have to pay for the 3.0 again, or do I?
Thanks! 3.0 is a truly massive update. We'll post alpha links here and email all users.
I really want to get in on the Alpha. Causality has been an absolute godsend and amazing program so far.
Very excited! Thanks Per.
Sure that's reasonable.
It's not in beta yet. It's a massive update, and will go through an alpha phase, a few weeks from now. We'll email users about the alpha phase. I'll also post an alpha download page in the forum when it's ready, but it'll remain invite only, simply because we only want people running the alpha that know what they're getting into. It's also the first time we have an alpha release channel, so an alpha has to be installed to get ongoing alpha updates.
Just looked. 3.0 is NOT on the list of betas.
I would gladly try the 3.0 version and tolerate the beta version issues and report on them somewhere if that's helpful to Per.
If there is a BETA to test somewhere, count me in.
Where do I sign?
Hello! This is very exciting news: I love all the core functionality of Causality, but have held off from purchasing because I need collaborative editing options - I check back often to see if this is a feature that's been added yet, and it was a really pleasant surprise to see the above post.
Any timeline on when 3.0 will drop? And per the previous comment, do you need beta testers?
Thanks for producing such a great product - and continuing its development!
So 3.0 IS in beta, or you need volunteers to participate IN the beta?
Thanks! Version 3.0 is dropping soon. We brought 2.4.14 to a place that was basically stable and functional, and used that as our ticket to make some deep changes so that Causality can handle the load of the future, including collaboration.
It's a huge update that will have to stay in beta for a while because almost everything has been touched. Concepts have been cleaned up, and for example the script area has been almost rewritten from scratch so it's performant. It can now handle a 5,000 page document without blinking, perfect for writing multiple seasons of a TV show in the same project. Stuff like that.
