Hi Per. Thank you for your continuted updates. I absolutely love this software.
Here are some things that I have noticed. Forgive me if these are already addressed in a future build.
Search:
It often crashes If I don't quickly type in more than 3 letters right away, the search database kick in and tries looking for every instance of "S" for examples. Should search have a pause so that it doesn't start looking right away, or an enter, to control when it starts searching and most importantly, an option to press escape to kill the search function if it stalls. It's crashed my system many times.
It would be great for the located word was highlighted yellow in the script as it is in the list of summaries in the find popup.I spend a fair amount of time hunting for where it might be in the script, once idenfitied in the Find panel, so i'm searching after searching. I've to this to happen sometimes but 90% of the time, the word isn't highlighted in the script.
Copy/Paste or Template (one touch) add ins for Research Folders and White board elements:
My characters and location folders have a similar setups which involve quite a few subfolder structures that are colour coded. At the moment I'm having to do this for each time I add a character. Is there any way to automate this, like a copy paste or saving semi-template modules so I can just keep adding without having to build the structures each time?
it would also be great to have this for groups and blocks. As my chapters all have the same starting out point of Beats contained in groups contained in blocks. So making multiples of this involve doing the steps manually for each.
Sending Beats off the Whiteboard in into the Research Folder:
I noticed that I can't drag a beat from the whiteboard in to research folders. It seems to be only possible from the research folder to the whiteboard. I often realise that some ideas/beats need to be parked with a character for later use after writing them in the live whiteboard.
Cause and Effect
Just an Idea, but it would be amazing if clicking on the line of a causality thread could produce a popup that contained all the connected beats of a I/O thread. For quick access, as many times, I'm just looking to remind myself of what links to what without having to put it though filters. I think it would create a great power-up for the I/O feature.
Scene Locations:
When in script format, the locations elements display in grey as their own area in the timeline. It's near and brilliant global way to view locations. It would be great to have something like this available for Books also. Currently I'm patchin locations in with a greyed out beat at the top of each group that just types out the location so I can see where a scene is set with ease. the location area in the timeline (as per movie scripts) is an elegant sollution.
Thanks again.
"Sending Beats off the Whiteboard in into the Research Folder" As a new user, I've been struggling with this too.
