I've looked around in the manual but it seems like editing keyboard shortcuts isn't possible or isn't documented. Is there a way to do it anyways ? In my specific case I'd just want the cmd/crtl+g to be remapped from "find next" (which i never use) to convert to group (which I use all the time). I know causality 3 is right around the corner but is there a way to change this in the meanwhile ? Thanks in advance. Ps : the software is amazing

Hello, I take advantage of the post to know if in version 3, the keyboard shortcuts will work on the French keyboard? Impossible today, we already talked about it.
Eric
I do like the convert to group and back idea with ctrl-b. Something that would also help would be to have something like ctrl-enter when having a beat selected automatically append the next beat inside of a new group if one doesn't already exist. Something in a similar vein as the way shift+enter puts the new beat right before it. It's not like I have a very specific technical need for groups but, because they seem to be the only way to have beats vertically aligned, I feel like they quickly become vital to not have a cluttered whiteboard.
Hi,
Editing the shortcuts isn't currently possible at all, they're hard-coded, and don't even come out of a single map, so it's not completely trivial to make one. But it is in the cards.
Basically, there are only so many good keys available, and the operating steals many of them for standard shortcuts. So the few remaining shortcuts are precious real-estate, and we do need to make them mappable.
The task involves a couple of areas, first of all getting all keyboard shortcuts to go through a single map. Then there's making a UI for it. And then there's coming up with a plan for how the shortcuts are synchronized. The feeling is that this is a personal setting. If you have two Macs, you'd want the same settings in both places, but you wouldn't want to share it automatically with others. But if you do want your team to have the same shortcuts, we'd also have to roll some kind of external file option for the shortcuts.
Altogether, it's actually a lot of tasks. And there's so much pressure on things like collaboration, mobile, image support and emotion tracking, that this is the kind of feature that goes into the background.
Version 3.0 draws a hard line in the sand, where we're killing off and/or merging a lot of things into simpler concepts. It also means that some of our older shortcuts make less sense.
If we were to simply pick another key for Convert To Group, what could it otherwise be? For example, Ctrl-B is available. Then it could cover both Convert To Beats when a group is selected, and Convert To Group when beats are selected. Or give me another idea. Point is that then we can just throw in this shortcut for 3.0.
